Kingdom Parent Institute
Some days parenting can be a thankless task, at other times it is the most rewarding and fulfilling responsibility far and away surpassing any title or position the world could imagine. Everyday, however, parenting is an opportunity, a calling, a responsibility, a challenge and a gift.
The family is the cornerstone of our society. More than any other force it shapes the attitude, the hopes, the ambitions and the values of the child. And when the family collapses, it is the children that are usually damaged. When it happens on a massive scale the community itself is crippled. So, unless we work to strengthen the family, to create conditions under which most parents stay together, all the rest — schools, playgrounds, and public assistance, and private concern -- will never be enough.
— President Lyndon Johnson (June 4, 1965)
Prestonwood Christian Academy is honored to partner with Christian parents in the journey to raise godly young men and women who are grounded in biblical truth and walking in a manner worthy of their calling. Toward that end, we constantly look for opportunities to encourage parents in this grand endeavor and offer a variety of resources.
Included under the banner of Distinctly PCA is an endeavor called Kingdom Parent Institute (KPi) which is an opportunity for PCA parents to learn practical and biblical wisdom relative to parenting in the areas of Cultural Apologetics, Biblical Literacy and Marriage & Family.
PCA reaches out to families through offering a Family Mission Trip that parents and students can participate in together. Prestonwood Christian Academy has also partnered with Sky Ranch to offer a family camping experience second to none at the Sky Ranch location in Colorado. Dr. Taylor offers his Kingdom Parenting seminar during several weeks of the Sky Ranch summer Family Camp calendar open exclusively to PCA families looking to connect as a family and further their intentional family spiritual plans. Finally, PCA in conjunction with the Life and Leadership Institute (LLI) courses offered at Prestonwood Baptist Church and the PBC Women’s Ministry, have several opportunities each year to take classes with an intentional parenting and worldview focus.
Biblical worldview training isn’t just for students and faculty here at PCA, it’s for parents, also. Each month a parent enewsletter, Counter Culture, is sent to the parent body covering worldview-related topics written by the Worldview Director. The annual Biblical Worldview Institute (BWi) training sessions offered in November are also open for parents to attend to hear some of the top thinkers on a variety of topics. Furthermore, PCA has partnered with the nation’s top worldview training academies to offer opportunities for adult training as well – Summit Ministries in Colorado Springs, CO has a one-week adult training seminar especially for parents looking to deepen their biblical worldview understanding. Several times each year the Worldview Director selects books to read and discuss with parents.
